Huntington Gateway Apartments

While the apartments are in a nice location I would keep looking. As soon as we signed the lease, they started talking about fees that we weren't told about upfront. One of us works third shift and the noise outside is enough to wake the dead 4 days out of the week. The trash shoot is so full on the weekends that the smell comes into the hallway. The walls are thin and when I try to sleep at night I can hear hear everything the neighbors are talking about and they are not being loud. It seems that only 1 elevator works at a time and the staff forget to let us know when we have packages. Oh, and we don't ever get the USPS packages when the website says they have been delivered. They tell you WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR to get you in the door! RENT RAISES AS SOON AS LEASE IS UP! SPIDERS are terrible inside apartment. Appliances inside unit are old and aren't that good. NOISE IS TERRIBLE! The amenities may appear nice but they aren't as they seem. The grills are almost always in use making it hard to use one, not to mention good luck finding one that has gas. Pool is closed a lot in the winter for work. If you like the idea of an indoor pool in the winter then think again. The water is freezing in the fall and winter.Read More

I have recently (again) renewed my lease at Huntington Gateway. The management, staff and maintenance employees are excellent!! Any repairs requested have been completed within a 24 hour period and correctly. The concierge staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. The management staff seems to really care about this community and bend over backwards to make this a great place to live. The grounds are well maintained, as well as the amenities such as the pool, gym, grill area, tennis court, etc. The shuttle service is VERY reliable and on time!! My apartment is very nice, great view of river/downtown and it is a quiet complex. Parking is underground and never have had a problem finding a spot. The community seems extremely safe and most of the residents are very friendly. I would highly recommend this community.Read More

From my bedroom window, I enjoy the sunrise coming up over the Potomac @ National Harbor, MD. Later in the evening, off in the distance, I watch the nightly shadows descend upon our nation's capital, Washington, DC from my living room. Here at Huntington Gateway in Alexandria, VA, I call this beautiful oasis home.

I will start this review by stating some good things about the apartment. It is in a decent location, close to old town, close to major highways. Closeish to a Metro (1 mile away). The apartment itself is spacious enough for the price you pay. There is 24 hr concierge that holds your packages and has discount movie tickets. There is a community swimming pool, sauna, steam room which I have used once. There is hardly any sound trasmittal between apartments and have never heard my neighbors.There is garage parking. Now with bad. The location is close to major highways. This means there are always lots of cars around and the windows are not well insulated so you hear the cars all day and night. The area is not the best area but that being said I've never felt unsafe but not a place Id want to walk around. The apartment is older with the kitchen having outdated parts and an odd design of the kitchen. The huge windows seem cool but you can't really open them and they are a nuisance with heating and cooling. The garage and security in the building sucks because you can just follow people and cars in. The gym in the building kind of sucks too with old equipment. They try to have luxury amenities but everything is outdated. This place was probably "luxury" 20yrs ago but now, you can see the aging design and layout of all the facilities.
